Metro E WeDo 2.0 & TelloDrone Field Day

Update Below ↓↓↓ For the Metro Elementary Field Day, my partner Brandy Zinsmeyer and I thought it would be best to create a small anchor chart going over the various coding terms for our students for each activity. Since there is 20 minutes per activity, we could resonably spend 10-15 minutes discussing the terms and showing the coding systems with the last 5-10 minutes actually utilizing the students code with the WeDo Legos and TelloDrone.  ANCHOR CHART:  Below is an example of what our anchor chart will look like. Obviously each term will be related to the software we are using rather than what is identified in the picture, but this is just an idea. TelloDrone In Person Lab

For our face to face TelloDrone activity for our class today, I worked with my previous partner, Brandy Zinsmeyer, where we created new code for our in person drone practice.  Below is the simulation of our new code  New Coding for TelloDrone Simulation Video  Here are some pictures of us practicing using the drone!  + Here is a video of our drone's camera during our practice run! We unfortunately had some difficulties keeping the battery from running out, but we did get some good footage of what we have so far. We just need to keep practicing and potentially shorten the code.

Tello DroneBlocks Lab

 For our asynchronous class today, I completed the three Tello Drone introduction trainings. One training was an introduction to the coding functions of the software and some practice functions, the next focused on a simulation of using the drone in real life, and the last was a creative exercise. Below is a snapshot from the introduction portion, where we are shown some easy test runs to try with beginners. Following this introduction, you are given the opportunity to utilize the TelloDrone simulator. This tutorial was the most interesting and engaging for me because it gave the ability to practice playing around with the Drone's coding. WeDo 2.0 Lego Lab

Today my partner, Brandy Slavinski and I began to prepare a lesson for our Lego Lab activity at Metro E later in the month. We found a lesson plan that we thought was interesting using the Lego Education WeDo 2.0 Kit, and begun to build our model, shown below.  This model is the " Send Messages " Computational Thinking Lesson Plan which can be used in grades 1-5 at an Intermedate level. Once our model was completed using the Building Instructions , we were able to connect it through Bluetooth to the WeDo 2.0 Software Programming App. After completing a short tutorial, we were able to create code for our robot model to send a message between the joystick and the programming application. Below is a screenshot of our coding sequence from the application.  From the code we created, we were able to make our robot create sounds by different movements.
