TelloDrone In Person Lab

For our face to face TelloDrone activity for our class today, I worked with my previous partner, Brandy Zinsmeyer, where we created new code for our in person drone practice.

+ Here is a video of our drone's camera during our practice run! We unfortunately had some difficulties keeping the battery from running out, but we did get some good footage of what we have so far. We just need to keep practicing and potentially shorten the code.

  Digital MakerSpace After reviewing the materials provided such as the Gardening TEKS, the Maker-Based Instruction slide, and the screencast, I believe I have found a MakerSpace concept that I would like to bring to fruition. With the Gardening TEKS (Science) "Investigating the different organisms that would make up our gardening ecosystem (How will they interact with one another? Which are producers, consumers?)" I think it would be fun to have the students (3rd-5th grade) use motion media to create a clip of a garden ecosystem. This Gardening TEKS would also tie into TEKS 3.9(A) "Observe and describe the physical characteristics of environments and how they support populations and communities within an ecosystem". In essence, the student might have a garden scene, where a bee collects pollen from a flower, or a flower blooms as it sucks nutrients from the soil. Tello DroneBlocks Lab

 For our asynchronous class today, I completed the three Tello Drone introduction trainings. One training was an introduction to the coding functions of the software and some practice functions, the next focused on a simulation of using the drone in real life, and the last was a creative exercise. Below is a snapshot from the introduction portion, where we are shown some easy test runs to try with beginners. Following this introduction, you are given the opportunity to utilize the TelloDrone simulator. This tutorial was the most interesting and engaging for me because it gave the ability to practice playing around with the Drone's coding. Review Questions  ● What are your learning expectations regarding  a) personal growth,  When discussing my expectations of personal growth, I would say that I have learned a lot from this course through our class and community outreach. Having the opportunity to teach students something new and getting them engaged through STEM is incredibly rewarding to me. I learned to love the sciences closer to middle school, but the sight of watching a child's interest grow, and their eyes start to widen and a smile starts to form, their is no greater feeling.
